Lily Wang, CAIA, FDP

A brief introduction: Greetings Everyone! My name is Lily Wang. I currently work as a biotech & pharma analyst for Nasdaq, and I have a background in the VC space.

Why did I take up the FDP challenge?

I pursued the FDP designation because it is a perfect bridge between finance and data science. It is so hands-on and interesting that you can apply the knowledge daily.

What is great about FDP:

The FDP curriculum is very hands-on and new. It gave me a deeper understanding of how I can identify and implement innovative ideas in finance. My team has the assurance that when assigned to construct a data-related project, we can build it with sound logic and clearly explain the practicality. I am now empowered to communicate with the Data product team effectively because I understand the needs of both teams.

The FDP curriculum is very useful. I can now work on data-related projects with confidence, and with the FDP mark on my email, my clients feel comfortable when I talk to them about data. I now better understand how machine learning is practicable in Biotech, and this knowledge informs my ability to advise clients.

My advice for aspiring industry professionals:

It is important to explore different areas of the financial world because everything is linked. Once you understand the big picture, it is much easier to work through any specific task.
