With An Eye On The Future, the FDP Institute add online proctoring option for Q4-2020 Exam Cycle
Online proctoring being offered to all candidates planning to sit for the exam later this year; physical testing sites remain preferred option, where available.

AMHERST, MASSACHUSETTS (July 22, 2020) – The Financial Data Professional Institute (FDPI), the world’s leading designation for finance professionals, announced it will offer Candidates taking part in the October-November exam cycle both a traditional in-person testing option as well as the option to choose an online remote proctored exam.

“We have a growing number of committed professionals who very clearly want the chance to try to earn the FDP Charter, and it is in the best interest of the industry that we do everything in our power to give them that opportunity,” said Mehrzad Mahdavi, Executive Director of FDP Institute. “We see an opportunity to embrace proven technologies that allow us to keep our Candidates and their families safe, provide clarity as to when and how they will be able to sit for the exam, and further grow the number of qualified professionals this industry very much needs.”

FDP, with technology in its DNA, embraces the need to accelerate implementation of secure remote exam applications in the financial services industry.  These applications have been used extensively in a number of other industries, encompassing millions of candidates across hundreds of exams in order to meet the evolving needs of professionals.

FDP Candidates now have a choice between one of two options

Option 1:  The in-person testing model, where FDP Candidates will be sitting for their exam at a Prometric test center.

  • The exam window is from October 12 – November 8, 2020
  • In the event your exam is canceled, you will be eligible for option 2

We continue to assert that the best exam experience will be in a physical test site location. These sites have withstood the test of time, and tens of thousands of Candidate seats, with almost no incidents of infrastructure failure or compromise.  As your safety is our number one concern, Prometric has implemented strict health and safety measures, including expanded disinfecting regimens between appointments, enforcing social distancing by limiting capacity to 50% where necessary, and providing hand sanitizer to Candidates throughout their testing experience. All Candidates are also now required to wear a face mask while testing. You may read the full safety protocol here

Option 2:  A in-person Remote Proctored at a location of your choice, in accordance with ProProctor regulations

  • The exam day is from December 1, 2020
  • Starting November 10, 2020, candidates can reserve their time-slot for exam day

Administered by Prometric, this option allows you to take your exam from your home or other secure, remote location. Please be aware of a number of very specific physical and system requirements that must be carefully considered prior to making this choice. With this option, you will be able to control your environment from the standpoint of health and safety, however, because of the technical requirements, the risks inherent in unreliable connections and system errors should be carefully considered.

“Digital transformation has accelerated the move to on-line learning and certification in the financial services industry” said Hossein Kazemi, PhD, Managing Director of the FDP Curriculum group. “We are in the right place and right time with comprehensive program to innovate and modernize for our Members, for our Candidates, and for the industry as a whole so it can best serve the end investor. Making the best use of technology to craft a more resilient, future-proofed business model is imperative.”
