A brief introduction: Hello Everyone! My name is Alton. The world is changing at an exponential rate and that includes all aspects of finance. The FDP program provides an excellent background in how data science and artificial intelligence is impacting investment management. My firm's work with insurers in this regard is further enhanced by that understanding. Quite frankly, five years from now, we will likely look back at using spreadsheets and other available information in the same light as we today view using calculators with a square root function. I am proud and excited to add the FDP curriculum to my knowledge base.

Why did I take up the FDP challenge?

I pursued the FDP designation because I wanted to have an organized and focused understanding of how data science and artificial intelligence is currently being utilized as part of the investment process.

What is great about FDP:

The FDP Charter signals the professionalism and seriousness with which I view the impact of data science and artificial intelligence on the investment process.

The FDP curriculum provided an excellent base of understanding for the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, more specifically, in the investment arena.  That base has already allowed me to better understand what other professionals are doing in the field and has substantially expanded my thought process on new frontiers in investment and finance.

My advice for aspiring industry professionals:

My advice for aspiring industry professionals would be to seek out and dive into highly respected certification programs like the FDP, and even go further with other programs that will only add to your understanding and value to existing and future employers.  This field is growing exponentially and that means endless opportunities for bright, motivated individuals.
