A brief introduction:

Hello Everyone! I am Nicola Possamai from Italy.

I have always had an interest in numbers and especially numbers applied to finance. I have been working for Quantyx Advisors, a risk management company active in the private market, and more specifically on modeling development for the Quantyx RM web platform.

The research activity is my favorite part of the job. It gives me satisfaction to model reality and justify my choices based on the data I have. In an increasingly data-driven world, I have found it natural to combine my academic financial knowledge with data science concepts.

Why did I take up the FDP challenge?

My academic career was mainly focused on the financial sector. However, I have always shown interest in the data analysis side as well.

I chose the FDP program because it was an opportunity to combine these two realities with the aim of being able to interact with both the finance and model/software development business units and act as a translator between them.

What is great about FDP?

The FDP program provides the knowledge needed to merge finance with data analysis in a structured way. It represents a challenge to be met in order to stand out in an increasingly competitive and data-driven environment. The tools learned within the program enable you to have more options at your disposal to solve your daily business challenges.

I always tend to ask myself a thousand “whys” while learning new notions. Thanks to the FDP curriculum, I was able to fully understand how certain algorithms work and can now operate with complete awareness of the pros and cons of what I am developing. 

Becoming a charterholder has always been the goal since I started studying and it has helped me not to give up. This goal gives me personal satisfaction and certifies that I have worked hard to achieve it.

My advice for aspiring industry professionals:

Today we are privileged to have access to a huge amount of high-quality information, often for free. The advice I can give, and try to follow myself, is to have no regrets and to work as hard as possible to achieve what you desire.

Nicola is a quantitative analyst at Quantyx Advisors, an employee-owned company founded and managed by risk management professionals, active in Alternative Investments.

The team develops models to assess the risk of Alternative Investment Funds and underlying assets: they translate business requirements into algorithms and then deploy them in their web application, Quantyx RM.

He has a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in finance from Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy.
